Silence

Ever sat in silence and realized that God has done some amazing things in your life?!? You may not be where you want to be (physically, emotionally, or spiritually) but you are right where He needs you to be. Too often people are afraid to give themselves to Him because they say they're not perfect. If you were you wouldn't need Him! I'm heavily flawed but I thank Him constantly for showing it to me. The best relationship I have ever had has been with Him because it's based on truth.
Could you imagine if you were where you wanted to be? If you got everything you wanted? You wouldn't pray! You wouldn't feel the need. You'd walk around giving yourself the glory for everything you've done and not acknowledge His existence. We often take for granted the unspoken love He give us. Think about it. He loved us enough to wake us up this morning even though we didn't breathe His name the night before.
When all is well it seems to be a no brainier to praise and pray but the moment one thing occurs that questions His love for us, we are quick to stop asking for His grace and mercy! But let's be honest, if it was not for grace and mercy most of us would be way worse off than what we think we are. There is a saying that there is always someone worst off than you. That statement has always weighted heavily on my heart. Knowing what I have been through, I can't imagine someone dealing with situations more difficult than my trial at the time.
Our trials and tribulations are major when they are happening! Once we have passed through our storms we are reminded that there is sunshine, light after darkness.  I say all of this to say, silence can be deafening! Take the time to enjoy the silence! Your time is coming! When it does, the air will be filled with so much excitement from your praise! Be Blessed and Be a Blessing!

Box Braids: What's Old is New

If you've been following me on InstaGram or Youtube lately, you know I recently installed Box Braids in my hair. I've been braiding my hair for years but this was my first time putting box braids in my own hair. This style seems to be all the rage this summer with the likes of Beyonce and other celebrities rocking the look. I wore box braids as a child so the style isn't new to me.
2pac & Janet Jackson in Poetic Justice
Growing up, Poetic Justice was one of my favorite movies. It starred two of my favorite people, Janet Jackson and 2Pac! I loved the look on Janet! Our facial structure is similar and since her character loved poetry and hair, I found myself drawn to her even more. This past saturday I decided that I needed a break from Free Spirit and decide to braid my hair. I bought about eight packs of 100% Kanekalon Jumbo Silky Braid Hair (colors: 1 & 33) and used five. The hair itself was long so I didn't have to add additional hair to each braid for length.

It took about ten hours to finish. Once completed, I decided to dip the  braids in hot water to seal. I made sure to not braid too tightly around my edges. Many complain that their hair is heavy after getting these braids. I think styling my own braids kept me aware of any potential heaviness or tightness. The braids are waist length and so far I am enjoying them.

Here are a few pictures of how I wore my braids this week:

I also posted a video right after I finished them. Feel free to check it out as well:

Have you worn box braids or are you considering this look?
