Time for an Updo

Ever get bored with your hair? As taboo as that question may seem, the fact still stands that sometimes we either want a break from our usual style and/or routine. As much as I love wearing my hair in twistouts and wash & go styles, I often dream of creating new and exciting looks for myself. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram then you already know that I am always on the search for a new hairstyle for myself. It was either do a second big chop, color, or create an updo. I am currently growing my hair out so a cut was out of the question. I recently got color in my hair on my birthday back in April so I didn't want or need any more. I decided to grab a few bobby pins, hair pins, product, and let my hands tango with my hair. Check out the three styles I created with this one braided updo style!

Style #1: Twist & Tuck Pompadour
I began by braiding to my scalp a few braids then putting them in three strand twist once I finished braiding from the scalp. I braided both sides of my hair in similar styles and the left back side of my head. I then put the right side of the back and middle in three strand twist, I kept the very top of my head out and created a pompadour!

Style #2: Twist & Tuck Chunky Flat Twist Side Bang
With the second look I decided to not wear the pompadour. I opted to transform it into a chunky flat twist and then tucked it. I then used a loose three strand from side braids and overlapped it across the flat twist.

Style #3: Loose Curls (Three Strand Twist Out)

Are you wearing your hair in any updos or protective styles?

  1. Hey hey love the styles. Can I just ask what's a 3 strand twist please? A plait? As I can't think how else you'd do it. Keep up the good work x
